Brief History of Harry Houdini

Harry Houdini was born on March 24, 1874, in Hungary. He was first known as "Harry 'Handcuff' Houdini," where he would challenge the police to keep him locked up.

These stunts soon expanded to include death-defying feats such as Milk Can Escape, Chinese Water Torture Cell, and Suspended Straitjacket Escape.

He was also the past president of the Society of American Magicians, and later in his life, he set out to dispel fake spiritualists and those claiming to be able to speak to the dead.

Houdini died on Halloween after his appendix ruptured. A punch to Houdini's stomach a few days early in his dressing room backstage at McGill University was the incident that led to Houdini's death.
