Where to find Invisible Thread

It's no secret that magicians are some of the most secretive people.

Invisible thread is a staple in any magician's kit. While it may not technically be "invisible," it is just about as close to it as possible.

It's perfect for various fantastic magic tricks, including animating objects like cards or coins and making things appear to float.

But while the invisible thread is perhaps one of the most valuable items in a magician's toolkit, it can be hard to find—especially if you don't know where to look.

There are a few places you can find invisible thread.

The first is your local magic shop— You could also try a costume shop—they may not sell the kind of invisible thread magicians use. The most accessible place to purchase invisible thread is online.

Tips & Advice

Here are a few tips and tricks for performing the Floating Match on Card magic trick and making the card gimmick.

#1: Practice. The move you need to make is simple, but it can be hard at first to make it look natural in the beginning. Practice the action a few times in front of the mirror before trying it with your audience.

#2: Alternatives: Consider using alternatives to playing cards, like business cards, photos, or event-name badges. It's a great way to add a unique touch and connection to your audience.

#3: Break out of the box! The standard version of this trick involves moving a match but don't be afraid to experiment with different items for fun! A tiny magic wand makes an excellent alternative for younger magicians. We've included a sample below.

#4: Presentation: Remember that all great magic tricks are about connection and a good story, not props and gadgets. Be sure that you have a reason for performing this magic trick—like maybe you're surprising someone special.

Match Alternative

You can make a tiny magic wand by cutting off the end of the match and drawing in a magic wand with a marker. Alternatively, you can use lollipop sticks in the same way.
