Innovation in magic isn’t just about new tricks—it’s about fresh ways to present them.
Over the years, MAGIC Live! has introduced groundbreaking theatrical magic experiences, from Documentary Live, exploring the history of sawing a woman in half, to From the Dark, a performance experienced entirely through sound and touch.
Most recently, The Very Strange Monday Night Show gave audiences a unique view of magic from both onstage and backstage perspectives.
Now, MAGIC Live! is taking this mission further.
Partnering with the Academy of Magical Arts, they are launching Experimental Theater Concepts (ETC)—a global search for magicians with bold, new ways to present magic.
The goal?
To help bring these visionary ideas to life and onto the stage at MAGIC Live 2025!

What Kind of Ideas Are They Looking For?
Stan Allen, producer of MAGIC Live, explains:
"Anything that reframes magic in a unique way. For example, Jonathan Levit and Mad Tad recently performed at the Magic Castle with a wall splitting the stage in half, portraying two ex-friends forced to collaborate. The tricks were familiar, but the theatrical setup added a compelling new dynamic. Another example is Richard Wiseman’s Experimental, a magic show without a magician—where the audience themselves became the performers."
This initiative isn’t about themed acts like "magic with teddy bears"—it’s about pushing the boundaries of what magic can be.
How to Get Involved
Have a groundbreaking idea?
Submit a short write-up—just a paragraph or two—to MAGIC Live.
No need for a fully polished plan, just your best elevator pitch.
The Deadline: Midnight Pacific Time on March 7th.
From there, selected concepts will receive development funding to refine their ideas into scripts and rough video presentations. Ultimately, four finalists will perform a 10- to 15-minute preview of their concept at MAGIC Live this summer.
The most promising acts may even go on to perform at The Peller Theatre at the Magic Castle.
